The San Diego Field Office, which opened in 1993, provides clinical case management for youth and families involved in foster care who need help attaining or maintaining permanency, and for young adults transitioning from foster care. Staff also work with families to prevent entry into the foster care system. We are part of Casey Family Programs’ Child and Family Services team, which also operates field offices in Arizona, Idaho, Texas and Washington, all focused on the urgent and relentless pursuit of securing lifelong, permanent family connections for every child.

The San Diego Field Office team establishes enduring connections for youth and young adults while working alongside San Diego County to achieve safe, legal permanency and optimal well-being based on a trauma- and healing-informed approach for all youth we serve. We recruit, train and support resource families to care for older youth (ages 11 to 18), with an emphasis on their role as partners in the effort to achieve legal and relational permanency. We strive to build an extended network of family and other meaningful connections for the youth and families we serve, and we offer continuity of care after the achievement of permanency and connect youth and families with community resources as needed. We honor the unique culture of each youth and family, including racial and ethnic identity, sexual orientation and gender identity, and religious and spiritual beliefs. We also partner deliver services in close and respectful partnership with San Diego County Child Welfare Services.

Education is a priority in our work. We provide educational advocacy to ensure youth receive the support they need to achieve their potential and to graduate from high school. We stay involved with many of our youth beyond age 18, supporting them to go on to college and connecting them with scholarships and other community resources to support their success.

We also collaborate with a variety of other local stakeholders to help strengthen our communities so all children and families can thrive.
